BYU Football Game

My parents came up to visit a few weeks ago and go to the BYU vs TCU football game. It was a really sad game, but we still had a fun weekend with my parents. Thanks for spoiling us mom and dad!!!

Stewart Falls

One of my co-workers told me about a hike that her family likes to go on. It is up Provo Canyon on the Alpine Loop near Aspen Grove. We decided to try it out on Pioneer Day. We got up early to beat the heat and had a great time. It is about 2 miles into the falls. The scenery on the way up was very pretty!

Fourth of July

This year we started part of the festivities very early! We left Payson by about 5:45 so we could get to Provo and see the Hot Air Balloon Show. There were about 20 hot air balloons that took off at about the same time. We had never seen this kind of thing before, so it was a really fun activity.

We then went back home, took a nap, and had a barbeque. Later that night we went back into Provo to watch the fireworks from Stadium of Fire. We had the opportunity to go to Stadium of Fire, but turned it down after finding out that it was the Jonas Brothers that were performing. A lady that used to be in our ward asked us to help with the clean up from Stadium of Fire. We started working after the show until about 4 AM. Its a good thing we got paid really well because it sure did mess up our sleep schedule!

BYU Women's Conference

Ok, so I know this is a little late! We had a great time a few weeks ago when my mom and sister came into town for BYU Women's Conference. They came on Wednesday and then left on Saturday. It was a lot of fun having them visit and spoil us rotten! We sure love you girls!!

Fishing Fun

Last weekend some of my cousins from my mom’s side came to visit because Grandpa Southwick just got called to be a counselor in the bishopric. Grandpa used that as an excuse to take us all to go visit his rich brother in Sandy. The rich brother is such a nice guy, but he’s a little crazy. He has reindeer! We got to feed those. He also let us feed his trout and watch them jump out of the water. He then took us to his pond that was stocked with 1000 fish just two weeks ago. He showed us how to fly fish (sort of) and then let us do it. I felt like a real man because I could catch fish, even though the fish were practically jumping onto the beach for me. Also, Bethany somehow managed to get sunburned when no one else did. This is especially funny because the day later it snowed a ton. Only Bethany could get burned like that in the winter.

Our First Valentines Day

Nathan and I just celebrated our first Valentines Day together. It was really funny because about a week before Nathan expressed his hatred for this "holiday." I understand because I grew up with a dad who thinks the same thing, but quite possibly with more hatred about it! Its not my favorite either because I don't understand why you have to have one special day to let someone know you love them. Even with this I still wanted to go out on a date with my husband on Valentines Day....I really love going on dates with Nathan! We started our date by going to the Provo Temple. In our time here in Provo I have grown to really love that temple. After that Nathan let me decide where I wanted to go for lunch. When we were talking about going out on Valentines Day he made one request, that we go out for lunch and not dinner. Think about going out to dinner on Valentines Day in Provo, on a Saturday night....yuck! We ended up going out to PF Changs and it was wonderful! That was the nicest meal out we have had since our honeymoon! The rest of the day we spent relaxing and watched a movie. It really was a perfect day. And to top it off my hubby got me these....
Isn't he the best?! I sure think so!!!

BYU Mens Volleyball

My awesome husband has known for a while that I love watching volleyball! When we were engaged and the Olympics were on, that was probably one of my favorite sports to watch. One day while he was on campus I got an email from him telling me that BYU Mens Volleyball was starting soon. He asked me if I wanted to go see a game with him.

BYU played Hawaii and it was such a good game! All three matches were very close, but BYU ended up winning all three of them. The shortest guy on the team was 6 ft! We tried to get some actions pictures, but we were far away and they turned out blurry.

This is proof that we sure had fun watching volleyball!!

PS. I added a picture of my boyfriend....COSMO!!

AHH...what did I get myself into?

First off, welcome to our new blog! We thought it would be fun to start one of these, especially with family and friends so far away from us. Sorry it wont be as entertaining as other blogs that have kids, but we will try our best.

So I need some help! A sign up sheet came to me in the Relief Society binder for a craft group. I thought that would be a good idea to sign up because with Nathan and I both being in a new ward and right away being put into Nursery I could meet people. The lady in charge called me to see if I had any ideas. She then came by our house and I showed her a website with some craft ideas. She said that most of them the ward had done previously. She then asked me to be in charge of the craft group for March. Im not really sure why, but that makes me really nervous!! What if I pick a craft that no one wants to do? What if no one signs up? So where I need help is that if you know of any cute craft ideas, would you please send them my way? I would really appreciate it!

Chlorophyll? More like Bore-o-phyll!

So last semester I got to do an independent project in my chemistry class.  Somehow I got the bright idea to measure the amount of chlorophyll in Utah lake.  I heard chlorophyll levels indicate pollution levels, and I know Utah lake is miserably dirty, so I thought it might be interesting.  I go through all the sample collections, extractions, arguing with the teacher, and spectrophotometric readings only to find out there is no chlorophyll in the stinkin' lake.  The funny thing is that it turns out algae, the stuff that produces the chlorophyll, doesn't really like the cold, barren wasteland of Utah either.  They only come out in the summer.  I wish I could be more like them.
